SEC is proud to support Employer Support of the Guard Reserve (ESGR)  ESGR acknowledges the effort made by local employers to support their employees that are active in the National Guard.

President of SEC, Ray Wrobley, is acknowledged with a Certificate of Appreciation from the U.S. Army by Luke Sefton, Regional Chair for ESGR.

Luke Sefton, former National Guard Lieutenant and currently an active member
of the ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve), presents a U.S. Army Certificate of Appreciation to Ray Wrobley, President of SEC, Inc.

Local Arizona Civilians Awarded with Military Honors

Vice President of SEC, Luke Sefton, Northern Arizona Chair of Employer Support of the Guard Reserve (ESGR), along with Bob Bell, Employer Outreach Volunteer with ESGR, presented three awards at the Heroes to Hometown luncheon gathering held at the Heights Church in Prescott, Tuesday September 28th, 2010.

As the 1.3 million members of the National Guard and Reserve continue to perform an increasing number of unique missions with America’s borders and beyond, ESGR will continue to be the resource for the employers of citizen warriors. ESGR recognizes outstanding support, increases awareness of the law, and resolves conflict through mediation.

Glenna Montgomery of the Yavapai Regional Medical Center was awarded the Patriot Award.  The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve.  Glenna was nominated by Captain Paul Wright.  Captain Wright is quoted as saying “Glenna has always been very supportive of me serving in the Navy reserves, and has been flexible in allowing me to perform my drill weekends.  She supported me during my deployment to Fallujah, through e-mails and care packages, as well as helping me to prepare for my deployment, as she was an Army Nurse Corps officer deployed during Desert Storm.”

Honored with the Above and Beyond Award was Lieutenant Ken Morley of the Prescott Police Department for his support of Officer Mark Parker during his multiple deployments during 2008 and 2009.   The "Above and Beyond Award" is given in limited numbers by state and territory ESGR committees.  It recognizes employers at the state and local level who have gone above and beyond the legal requirements for granting leave and providing support for military duty by their employees.

Even though Officer Parker was required to miss a lot of work, Lt Morley often pulled him aside offering encouragement and support.  The Prescott Police Dept. and the City of Prescott deserve the highest recognition.

Guidance Helicopter was presented with the Seven Seals Award for support, employment and education of reservists.  Guidance Helicopter works in partnership with Yavapai Community College in offering a Professional Helicopter Pilot Degree under the Post 9/11 GI Bill.

The Seven Seals Award is the highest award given by ESGR, and was created to publicly recognize American Employers who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to employees and families of those who have been called to serve.  Supportive employers are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of our armed forces.
